Hi! How’s it going?
Last week was a big ‘ole blur, and the weekend was so good! Thought I’d share some highs and lows:
HIGHEST: GETTING A JOB! I have been going stir crazy, and I’m really stoked about a job offer that I accepted with the local hospital in their volunteer administration. I’m most excited about the people- I actually had fun during the interviews because the people were so great, so WOOO! Stoked. I start at the end of the month.
HIGH: Chai tea lattes & a new-found study spot. I. LOVE. THIS. PLACE.
HIGH: Being serenaded by Zack, who has learned more of my favorite songs on guitar.
HIGH: Celebrating my sissa’s birthday this weekend at a Josh Turner concert in Fort Worth.
Not pictured: Mexican food, margaritas, cajun food, and chocolate cake. And a nap. woof.
HIGH: My Becca fran coming into town on Texas Independence Day and celebrating with a FREE Texas beer (probably because Christmas was awhile back, but I don’t care because Christmas is my favvvvvve). WIN- WIN-WIN!
HIGH: Realizing I STILL had brown rice cakes in the pantry when I thought we were out- YAS!
LOW: Taking a selfie in a dirty mirror and wearing pumps. I loathe heels, because I have child feet and nothing ever fits. I walk out of them and trip everywhere. It’s awful.
Another low: this was taken before a “pre-interview” to see if a clinic wanted to interview me for a nutrition-related position. I was SO STOKED about this position, but then I met their staff, and then they asked me “ethical questions” that didn’t jive with me. For instance, “No. I don’t agree that Type II diabetic patients should be given ‘meal replacements’ with SUGAR as the third ingredient on the list.” How about we guide people into health? Maybe TEACH them how to establish healthful habits and have autonomy over their own care to avoid relapse? I left feeling bummed, because I was really excited to learn and serve in this position…and it was very much not what I had built it up to be in my mind. Has that ever happened to you?
Another HIGH HIGH HIGH:
Continued half-marathon training. I can tell that my endurance is building, and I’m relieved that my energy levels are finding their way back into my life. PRAISE! Seven and a half weeks left until the half 🙂
QUESTION: HAS ANYONE DONE A DESTINATION RACES EVENT BESIDES THE NAPA TO SONOMA WINE COUNTRY HALF? Looking for another suggestion in a new state. Maybe Virginia? Oregon? HALP!
Hope your Tuesday is full of HIGHS 🙂
